Interview with Ms Yau Wan Wah Lindy (Extract)
                                              (English Translation)
Interviewee : Ms Lindy W W Yau (LY)

Interviewer : Mr Joseph Y K Yau (JY)

“Accountancy as a branch of knowledge, is only a basic skill that each Certified
Public Accountant must master. With an adaptive mindset and an embracing

attitude, the ideologies of operating an accounting practice could also be
applied to any other industry...” said Ms Lindy W W Yau, who has worked in CKY
in several capacities over the years of her professional life: from being a summer
intern to being a Practising Partner in the accounting practice, then as a

member of the Board of Directors, and finally a Senior Consultant alongside with

her role as the Principal of HKSC. CKY is approaching its 60th anniversary and
we are honoured to interview Ms Lindy W W Yau regarding the CKY’s
development in its early era. She also shared some of her intriguing and

memorable moments during her stay in CKY, as well as her heartfelt feelings
                 and future prospects of CKY.

Good to talk to you my sister. As you may remember, I repatriated to Hong JY
Kong in 1985 and was recruited in CKY as a manager. During that time, CKY
was still operating under sole proprietorship and you were the Person-In-
                        Charge.

Later on you followed your aspiration and dedicated yourself to the education

sector and became the Principal of HKSC. Thus I took over your helm in the
accounting practice. Would you like to tell us more about the operation of
                        CKY prior to 1985?

LY I officially commenced my work in CKY in 1975, but prior to that I also worked

as a summer intern. At that time I was the only Certified Public Accountant
who could sign off the clients’ audited financial statements. It was rather
straightforward to manage around ten staff - to put it as an analogy, it was
like having ten fingers, just enough to manage all the work. Our clients were
mainly small and medium enterprises, and our biggest client was shipping
industry - Far East Enterprising Limited under China Resources Group.

Far East Enterprising Limited became one of our clients after CKY merged with
H N Li & Company, during the time when Chinese enterprises had been
prospering and thriving. Our team frequently visited the renowned China
Resources Building in Wanchai to conduct audit and business meetings.
