Our practising director, Mr. K T Tam attended HKSI Mentoring Programme Graduation & Welcome Cocktails 2018 on 4 December 2018.

Members celebrated the accomplishments of the 2017/18 cohort of the Mentoring Programme after the 12-month journey, and welcomed mentors and mentees of the new cohort. Mentees who performed remarkably were awarded the Best Mentee and Outstanding Mentee Awards.

On 3 December 2018, nearly 600 members and guests came together to enjoy HKICPA fun-filled annual dinner themed "Accounting Plus". Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, was HKICPA guest of honour.

Hong Kong Inter-Tertiary Accountancy Association (HKITAA) was established in 1992. It is a voluntary non-profit making organization formed by students mostly pursuing an accounting degree with 9 local universities viz. City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, Lingnan University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Open University of Hong Kong.

Our practising director, Mr. K T Tam was a speaker of HKITAA 26th Inauguration on 26 November 2018. Mr. Tam let other members to have a better insight into the accounting profession.

The Autumn Dinner is a unique occasion for HKSI to recognise distinguished individuals who have worked with HKSI for the beneficial development of our industry. This year, The Autumn Dinner was honouring Professor KC Chan, GBS, JP, with the Honorary Fellowship, as well as inducting five HKSI Institute Senior Fellows.

Our practising director, Mr. K T Tam represented The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) to participate in the HKMA Family Sports Day on 11 November 2018 and was a champion in Inter-Professional 4*100 relay race.

Joint-University Business Dinner (JUBD) is one of the most significant joint-University functions, organized and supported by the representatives from 9 local Universities in Hong Kong. JUBD is an annual event that provides a platform for University students to mingle with successful entrepreneurs and social celebrities from different business industries. It converges distinguished guests and students in one formal and glamorous event, which provides students with opportunities to interact with business professionals to enhance their understandings about the business world.

Over the past fourteen years, JUBD has been greatly supported by various external sectors as well as prominent guests from different business domains. Stepping into the fifteenth year of JUBD, the theme is Vinculación – Consociate the Diminutive Individual, Fabricate the Enormous Innovation.

Asia Oceania Tax Consultants' Association (AOTCA) was founded in 1992 by 10 tax professionals’ bodies located in the Asian and Oceanic regions. It has expanded to embrace 18 leading organizations from 13 countries/regions now.

Our managing practising director, Mr. Joseph Yau attended Asia-Oceania Tax Consultants' Association (AOTCA) International Tax Conference in Mongolia from 11 to 15 September 2018.

He exchanged views and ideas with tax professionals and AOTCA members from other jurisdictions.

National Day Celebration Dinner 2018 was co-hosted by Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors on 4 September 2018.

The guests of honour this year were Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Yang Yirui, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR; and Joseph Chan, Acting Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.

The International Accounting Group® (TIAG®) and its sister legal alliance, TAGLaw® hosted the TAG Alliances Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting 2018 in Shanghai, PRC for its members from 16 to 19 August 2018.

Our managing practising director, Mr. Joseph Yau, has the pleasure to be invited by Society of Registered Financial Planners (HKRFP) to deliver a speech on a topic of "Updates on Keeping of Significant Controllers Registers (SCR) and Licensing of Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSP)" on 21 June 2018, during this programme to let all attendee to have a better understanding of Keeping of Significant Controllers Registers (SCR) and Licensing of Trust or Company Service Providers (TCSP).

The MD Award Scheme has been launched by the Employees Retraining Board (ERB) since 2009 to recognize organizations which have demonstrated outstanding achievements in manpower training and development. Organizations that fulfill the criteria will be acknowledged as MDs within a two-year validity period, subject to renewal every two years.

We joined the "ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme" 2017-18 and passed the renewal assessment of that award again.

We obtain an Award certificate on the renewal of the MD status from Employees Retraining Board (ERB) in June 2018.

The International Accounting Group® (TIAG®) and its sister legal alliance, TAGLaw® hosted the spring international conference 2018 in Barcelona, Spain for its members from 2 to 4 May 2018.

He got the runner-up in the Inter-Professional 4*100m relay event.

Queen's College Old Boys' Association (QCOBA) shall appoint Honorary Permanent Presidents (HonPPs), Honorary Presidents (HonPs) and Honorary Advisers (HonAds) who rendered exceptionally good and valuable contributions and services to QCOBA or QC. HonPPs are honour for life, while the tenure of office of HonPs is four years and that of HonAds is the same as the Executive Committee. The Honorary Auditor is elected every two years.

The 27th Inauguration Ceremony of The Business Students' Union of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Students’ Union (HKUSTSU) was successfully held on 3 March 2018.

ACCA Hong Kong hosted its 21st Community Day at Chater Road Sunday Pedestrian Zone, Central on 28 January. Bringing together hundreds of participants from accountancy firms, multinational companies, corporations and institutions, this exciting rickshaw race competition not only illustrated the rich heritage of Hong Kong, but also helped foster cohesion between financial industries and the Hong Kong community, with charitable causes. This year’s event raised over HK$1.15 million, with donations going to Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong’s Project Home Works; Hong Kong Alzheimer’s Disease Association; and Hong Kong Federation of Handicapped Youth’s Sport Leader for People with Disabilities.
