Ten Years Overview Part I(1962-1971)
After years of hard work earning multiple certified professional qualifications, in 1962, the late
Mr Richard C K Yau (1930-2006) founded the C K Yau & Company (“CKY”), which aimed at
providing internship and job opportunities for accounting fresh graduates from the Hong Kong
School of Commerce (“HKSC”) to gain work experience. The office was first set up at 50-54
Leighton Road, sharing facilities with HKSC. Our firm started off with two staff members and
five clients, with HKSC as the biggest client of all.
In 1968, to promote the development of the accounting industry, the late Mr Richard C K Yau
introduced The Association of International Accountants (“AIA”) from the United Kingdom in
promoting services and holding examinations locally for AIA.
In 1971, CKY moved its office to The Bank of Canton Building, 6 Des Voeux Road Central (now
No. 9 Queen’s Road Central), ten years after its grand opening. This relocation signified the
growth of CKY in the past ten years of operation and the aim to expand the company’s business.
The Firm had a longstanding cooperative relationship with the HKSC and its administration
office stayed with CKY after the removal.
