Company Milestones

1962

Formation of C K Yau & Co located at 50-54 Leighton Road with Hong Kong School of Commerce (HKSC). There were only 5 clients.

1968

Formation of AIA-Hong Kong Branch by late Mr C K Yau.

1972

Merged with H N Li & Co located at Room 101 Alexandra House being managed by Mr Lau Man Sung as late Mr C K Yau was concentrated with the operation of HKSC.

1972

Late Mr C K Yau jointly with other tax practitioners formed Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK) of which Mr W H Lam was also one of the founders. A Sample of the practising certificate was presented as this is the last year to issue such certificate and thereafter will be done by the Hong Kong Society of Accountants (HKSA) formed in 1973.

1973

C K Yau & Co operated as H N Li & Co moved together in one office at Bank of Canton Building.

1974

Office moved to Room 1401 Yue Shing Commercial Building, Queen Victoria Street, Central, where then HKSA office was also located on the same street.

1975

Late Mr C K Yau immigrated to Vancouver, Canada and Mr W H Lam was engaged as signor for the firm. Ms Lindy Yau was also practising in Mr W H Lam's office before getting her practising certificate.

1978

So far the firm was operated as sole proprietor and Ms Lindy Yau joined the firm as partner in 1978 when late Mr C K Yau had health problem.

1982

Office moved again to 17/F Cantake House, Wan Chai and late Mr C K Yau left the partnership leaving Ms Lindy Yau as the sole practitioner.

1985

Mr Joseph Yau returned from Canada to join the firm.

1986

Mr Joseph Yau was promoted to manager.

1988

Mr Joseph Yau was admitted as partner of the firm.

1989

Mr Joseph Yau formed the CMABC - Hong Kong Branch and started to run the secretariat office when CMABC education program moved out from Hong Kong.

1991

Office moved to 12/F Hua Hsia Building, Wanchai, which was renamed as Pico Tower now and held an opening ceremony.

1991

Mr Joseph Yau was elected as President of CMABC-HK Branch.

1993

Merged with William M C Tong & Co and worked together. Late Mr C K Yau was named as an honorary member for AIA-HK Branch in its 25th anniversary.

1994

Mr Joseph Yau was elected as the President of Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors (SCAA).

1994

Very busy. Business improved by 3 times.

1998

Mr K T Tam and Ms Janice Leung were promoted to principal of the firm. Use of CSA by Company Secretarial department.

1998

Mr Joseph Yau was elected as President of Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians (HKIAAT).

1999

Use of computer server to connect all computers and developed website.

2003

During SARS, a temporary office was set up at HKSC King's Road Centre for contingency purposes.

2004

Mr Joseph Yau was honoured FCMA of Canada for his dedication to the society.

2004

Formed our own consultancy company in Shenzhen PRC under CEPA.

2006

Merged with W H Lam & Company to form W H Lam & Partners CPA Limited which operated at Room 905-6 Arion Commercial Building.

2006

Mr K T Tam and Miss Janice Leung were promoted to partners of the firms. Mr Terence Mah was promoted as director for our Administrative and IT department and at the same time Miss April Ng was promoted as director for our company secretarial department.

2006

Mr Joseph Yau was elected as President of AIA-HK branch.

2006

Late Mr C K Yau deceased.

2007

Both companies worked at 11-13/F Pico Tower and held cocktail ceremony for 45th anniversary and to order annual souvenir pen for future years.

2007

Joined TIAG to expand our international network. Changed to alternate Saturday work week. HSBC granted our firm as its official intermediary.

2008

C K Yau & Co was incorporated to continue the practice under the name of C K Yau & Partners CPA Limited. Hang Seng bank granted our firm the status of Qualified Intermediary Scheme.

2009

Mr Joseph Yau was elected as Vice-President of TIHK. Hosted the regional conference for TIAG.

2010

Away day to determine our future years planning and from then on work with objectives in mind.

2011

Applied and obtained the HKACE Award for same category as top 10 SME Customer Service Excellence.

2012

Applied and obtained Manpower Developer (MD) Award Scheme for SME offered by the ERB. Started our 5 day workweek.

2012

Following HKICPA Authorized Employer, ACCA Approved Employer, CPA Australia Employers' Club, we joined TIHK as Accredited Employer for CTA students.

2012

50th anniversary travel to Taiwan by whole office. Logo competition announcement for 50th anniversary and company logo from 51st year. Organised 50th Anniversary annual dinner at the Chinese Club.

2013

Mr Joseph Yau, was elected as President of TIHK.

2014

Ms Lindy Yau retired from the practice but continued to serve as Senior Consultant.

2014

Mr KT Tam and Ms Janice Leung helped to host the TIAG International Conference in Hong Kong.
